Description

Grade: 6th -8th
Class Description: In this course we will read high quality, high interest books, short stories and poems. We will discuss the books read, the authors, how the books relate to our lives, and learn to identify literary elements such as characters, setting and plot. There will be lots of active class participation, with activities or crafts to reinforce the discussions. One of the main purposes of the class will be to help students learn to love good literature. Books will be chosen based on the reading levels and interests of the students in the class. Books for the coming year will be different than the ones in the current year, so repeating the class works great.
No prerequisites.
Must be able to read or understand books at a middle school reading level. Listening to books in audio format is sufficient.
